Walls That Do Their Job
A retaining wall is structure first, landscaping second. It's fighting gravity and groundwater every day of its life, and the difference between a wall that lasts thirty years and one that leans in three is entirely in what you can't see: the base, the backfill and the drainage. Maple Ridge Mastercraft builds retaining and garden walls across Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Guelph with the boring, invisible parts done right.
Sloped backyard you can't use? Front yard washing onto the sidewalk? Tiered gardens, driveway walls, seating walls around a patio — we design walls that solve the problem and look like they belong with your home.

Retaining Wall Questions, Answered
Why do retaining walls lean or collapse?
Water. A wall without proper drainage stone and weeping tile behind it is holding back saturated soil that expands every freeze. We build every wall with a compacted base, backfill drainage and the right batter so it stays put.
Do I need an engineer for my retaining wall?
Walls over roughly a metre, or walls supporting a driveway or structure, typically need engineered design and possibly a permit. We'll tell you upfront if your project crosses that line and coordinate the engineering if it does.
What materials do you build walls with?
Segmental concrete block systems, natural stone and armour stone. Each has its price point and look — we'll show you options that suit your slope, soil and budget at the consultation.
