Pergola or gazebo — what's the difference?
A pergola has an open slatted roof for filtered shade and looks; a gazebo has a solid roof for real weather protection. We build both, plus hybrids with louvered or polycarbonate tops that split the difference.
Can you add a pergola to my existing deck or patio?
Usually yes — we assess the existing structure and footings first. If the deck can carry the load we anchor to it properly; if not, we set independent posts so nothing racks or sags.
Do outdoor structures need permits?
It depends on size and placement — many pergolas don't need one, larger sheds and roofed structures often do. We check your municipality's rules and handle the paperwork when it's required.
